I have a cute little 2nd grader and a big 5th grader going off to school today.

This sweet kid is fast in the mornings. She gets everything done even her bathroom job.
This sweet kid is a turtle in the mornings. She got up at 6:15 and was almost late for the first day of school. HELP!

Fishing at Silver Lake

We went up A.F. Canyon a few weeks ago with some friends from Jason's work. They wanted to learn to fish. So, we packed up the kids and took off for Silver Lake. We didn't know the lake was practically empty. That didn't stop us we loaded up on junk food and fished for a few hours.

Halle has some skills. She was casting clear out to the middle of the lake.

Sammy broke out her new pink fishing pole and waited and waited for a fish to nibble.

Hunter tried to teach Sam how to cast. I think Sam wanted to throw Hunter in the Lake.

Luke got the hang of it. He kept wondering when he was going to catch a fish.

Well, as you can tell NO fish were harmed or caught or seen. But we still had a great time. My job was to drive the kids down to Tibble Fork in the Rhino. (I think the ride down was the biggest hit of the trip, but don't tell the guys!)
We missed you Brooke. Hopefully next time you can bring the other two kids fishing with us.

Hiking to Timp!

Jason and I love hiking Timp every summer. It is a difficult hike - 7 1/2 miles each way. We used to hike Timp with the YM in our ward but Jason was released from that calling so we decided to do it on our own. It was so much fun. We woke up at 4:00 am, left our house at 4:30 am, arrived at the Timpanookew campground at 5:oo am and were off hiking. Our goal was to be at the top in 3 hours (8:00am) and then to be down in 2 hours.
We did it!
We saw some goats in the distance before we got to the top. We thought it was so cool, but then when we got to the top we had a little family of goats waiting for us.

There were so many amazing flowers. This is in a little valley before the last mile or 2 of switchbacks until you reach the top. I am resting before the final push.

This is Jason on his phone. Can you believe it? Who are you calling at 8:00am on a Saturday morning?

This is what I looked at the entire way up the trail and the entire way down the trail. Man, Jason has long legs! I was practically running to keep up with him. Jason was so impressed with all of the trail runners. What do you think I was doing trying to keep up him. . . Trail Running!

Jason is laughing at me trying to catch up to him!
Check out the red, white and blue flowers.

Jason was so far ahead of me that I had to take a picture of myself.
Cheese!

What a great day. We want to keep hiking this until we can get a senior citizen discount at the entrance of the canyon. This was a great way to spend our anniversary.
Happy 14th anniversary J!

Sun Valley Part 1

Our annual trip to Sun Valley this year was short and sweet. We had to be back for Grandpa Henry Hawkins funeral so we crammed everything into a day and a half.

The girls always love to go ice skating. Jason is a sport he puts the skates on and drags the girls around for an hour. I volunteer to take pictures.

Halle sure is happy about ice skating.

The girls usually ditch Jason after a few times around the rink.

They found dad hiding in the corner behind the guy in spandex. Jason is actually afraid of guys in spandex that spin around real fast on the ice skating rink.

This swan isn't to happy about the girls getting so close.
This is how I feel in the morning when they try and wake me up for breakfast.

Halle is happy that we finally made it to Brunch which happened to be our favorite pizza place in Sun Valley.

We were the first ones there that morning.

Leaving Smoky Mountain Pizza at around 11:00 am. We had a lot to do and a little bit of time.

Now it is off the the tram for a ride up the mountain.
P.S. Hunter made the Give Me a Chance and I'll Show You My Dance finals. They are tonight at the park if you would like to come and watch. Call me for details.

Sun Valley Part 2

We always take a tram ride to the top of the mountain. It is so much fun. They have done a little upgrading on the tram so it is faster and a little more expensive. We decided splurge and keep up the tradition so, on to the top of the mountain we go.

What a cute couple!

The girls on the top of the mountain.

Of course we have to have a donut where ever we go.

Check out the view from the top.
Now we are off to the pool.

After a few dozen donuts we hit the pool. Why is the tube sinking?

Jason having fun with the girls.

What a good dad.

We had to cram all of our activities into 48 hours.
Ice Skating
Feeding the geese
Bowling
Smokies Pizza for lunch
Tram to top of the mountain
Swimming at the pool
Despo's for dinner
SUCCESS
We did it all!

Boondocks

We have been trying new things this Summer, first a little golf.

Halle was a natural.

Hunter had the slowest car on the track. We kept yelling at her to push the gas but it wouldn't speed up. There were a bunch of "special kids" that kept passing her.

The girls went around spraying random people. They thought they were so funny. The people kept looking at them like they wanted to beat them. We were dying!
I have been dreading going to Boondocks, I have to admit it was pretty fun.

A.F. Canyon

I love going up the canyon in the Rhino. We bring treats, it is beautiful and it is about 20 degrees cooler. It is so much fun.

What could be better than a donut in the mountains?

A fly landed on Halle's donut and she dropped a perfectly good donut on the ground!

What cuties!

What goofs!
