Spring Break- Crater

After D.C. we needed a little rest and relaxation so we went to Midway to swim in the Crater.

The Barlows were staying up at the Zermott so we tagged along for a swim.

It was pretty cool!

I was told that it would get rid of wrinkles and cellulite so I was the first one in.

The girls had a lot of fun.

Hunter practiced some of her swimming skills. Swim team tryouts are coming up!

I don't see a wrinkle anywhere, it must have worked!

D.C. Part 3

We went to Arlington Cemetery on Sunday. This is the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

It was very quiet, peaceful and reverent. Even though is was very sad to see all of the headstones, it was one of my favorite sights. It was so beautiful and calm.

Sterling and Hunter were checking out the anchor of a ship that went down. Jessica and Sterling are Pros when it comes to history. They should write a book for dummies like me!

This is the view from the hill on top of Arlington Cemetery. This is where Robert E. Lee lived. He sure had a great view. One of the things that I loved about D.C. is that from every angle there was a monument in your sight. It was fun going to one monument and then looking out and finding a different monument miles away.

Everywhere you look there are hundreds and hundreds of white headstones perfectly in line. There are people that work there and their job is to keep all the headstones in straight lines. It us unbelievable.

Sterling (little man) loved this Tulip Tree. It was the prettiest tree I had ever seen.

Arlington Cemetery was amazing. It was so beautiful. I felt super patriotic. I wish I could have busted out the song from 5th grade, God Bless the USA!

D.C. Part 2

The next stop was The Natural History Museum.

The girls were starving, fruit roll ups weren't getting it done, so I broke down and bought them some real food. This "real food" was a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and a hot dog. It only cost me $18.00. This is why Jason had to stay home and work!

She better be enjoying that sandwich!

The girls favorite stop in this museum was the rock collection, just like their dad.

I was hoping for something better than the "Hope Diamond". People were not impressed with the Hope Diamond. It was a little disappointing. I would personally take any diamond I could get.

I think he has been in a movie somewhere!

It was super cold that day. We were cuddling to stay alive.

Our next stop was the Air and Space Museum. We saw everything in record time. Jessica was parked out front waiting for us. You don't want to make Jessica mad when she is behind the wheel of a mini van.

Halle made a new friend. They got along so well.

The cherry blossoms were pretty, but I loved the Tulip Trees. We took this picture while Jessica was waiting for a man to pull into a parking stall. She only honked 5 times at him. Jessica taught us a lot about driving in D.C.

D.C. Part 1

We told Jason we were going to go somewhere for Spring Break. I thought that with that he would clear his schedule and come with us, boy was I wrong. He had to stay home and pay for our vacation. Poor guy! He missed out, big time!

We left for the airport at 1:00. The plane was supposed to leave at 3:15, it didn't! We missed out connecting flight in Denver. I was freaking out! When we finally got off the plane in Denver the lady at the ticket counter told me we could fly out tomorrow night at 9:00p.m., or fly in to Baltimore. Where the heck is Baltimore? After freaking out and calling Jessica in Virginia, she told us to get on the plane and they would pick us up in Baltimore. Jessica, Sterling, Little Man, and Dellin all picked us up at the airport at 2:00a.m. I can't say enough how awesome Jessica and her family were to us! They were troopers!!



Jessica had our beds out and ready for us when we arrived at her apartment. It was a little stressful getting there but worth it!

Our first stop was the National Museum of American History.

We really liked The First Lady Exhibit. This is Michelle Obama dress.

We also saw the first flag that Betsy Ross made. It is huge. The girls were teasing while I was taking this picture. Sweet Girls!!!

Halle needed a little break, what am I saying, so did I.

After a hard day at the museums we were off to . . . more museums!

Halles skills

I can't put pictures of my girls in their dancing attire or weird men will stalk us so I haven't had as much to blog about lately. So here goes sewing 101.

Halle finished her P.J. bottoms at sewing today. They are super cute. I am super proud of her. She is great at everything she tries, sewing, gymnastics, dancing, piano and swimming. She takes after her dad!

I thought that I would WOW the kids this weekend with these cinnamon rolls. They took 2 1/2 hours on Friday and then 2 more hours on Saturday. What a waste of time. The girls decided that they like the rolls that I did the week before that only took 1 hour. AAARRRRH!

Hunters New Passion

Friends of ours that live in Texas came over on Sunday to hang out. Ben C. grew up with Jason. They were good friends. Ben's wife Trish decorates cakes for fun. She has been asked to be on the Food Network for a cake challenge. We are practicing our skills so we can be her assistance on TV. She gave us a demonstration of her skills.

Hunter LOVED it!

Hunter spent hours making cup cakes and decorating them yesterday. It was a "Snow Day", so the girls didn't have school.

These are some of the cupcakes we tried to decorate.

This one is a little time consuming but it looks pretty cool.

Hunter's favorite cupcake was the "Pop Corn". Hunter couldn't stop making cupcakes. She took them to school for "Market Day". I hope the kids realize how darn long it took to make those cupcakes. I bet they licked the frosting off and dumped it in the garbage.
